Do Or Die Artwork

Emergence

When I was 62, I was laid off from my job at the Milford Hospital when Yale took over. Despite months of sending out resumes, I was not offered a job. I was frustrated, miserable and depressed.

A man from the Department of Labor said that they consider people in their forties to be older workers. He agreed that there is ageism in hiring and suggested that I start my own business. So, I became an artist. It feels much better to be a working artist than to be unemployed or retired.

I watched a lot of YouTube videos and began pouring paint. I've been building my resume and have exhibited at the libraries in Stratford and Redding, CT. I am an Artist for World Peace and have pieces in the traveling Peace Wall. Becoming an artist has made me take more risks, trust my intuition and has introduced me to some wonderful creative people.

I am happier now that I do not have all that stress in my life. Make Art – Do or Die!
