Arts Innovation Event
Salon Around The World© with RemoteLive by Yamaha

In keeping with our mission to create new ways for audiences to experience the arts and for art to be created, we were excited to bridge the gap between Old World classical music and New World communications.  Using cutting edge instruments and technology developed by Yamaha, this “beta” concert was broadcast LIVE from our piano directly to 100 other pianos around the world, each with their own intimate Salon audiences.

Remote audiences heard the music played directly on their piano, with keys and pedals moving exactly as it was played at Beechwood, along with a perfectly synched video of Frederic.  In this way, both the live audience and the remote audience were in attendance at an intimate salon concert, yet part of a world-wide audience of potentially thousands.

Frederic played a rousing and virtuosic program that tested the limits of the piano,  including Debussy, Ravel, Chopin, Prokofiev (Toccata!) and culminating with Liszt’s full transcription of the Beethoven 5th symphony for a single piano.  The audience here marveled at how it might have been for audiences on the other end seeing the piano playing such virtuosic pieces with no pianist!

Nine months after we tested it at beechwood, Yamaha used the exact same technology to stream Elton John for its 125th Anniversary concert.  — you saw it here first!
