Arts Immersion Salon The Beechwood Open 2012 August 2012
“The Beechwood Open” is like a Pop-up Arts Immersion Salon. It was so popular it is sure to become an annual event! Open Stage, Open Wall, Open Mike, Open Screen and Open Table – The Beechwood Open is a place to try out new works, performances and foods. The Beechwood Open in 2012 resulted in a sharing of incredible creativity and community:
- 30 pieces of art by 18 artists.
- 5 Performances from jazz to classical to original song to a surprisingly funny talk on Marc Chagall.
- 8 films by 6 filmmakers.
- 5 outdoor sculptures and a Soundscape in the Beechwood Sculpture Field
- An endless variety of culinary creations and libations
The event spans all 3 parts of our mission: Changing the way people experience the arts; Bringing together multiple arts genres; Providing an opportunity for collaboration across generations.
Frogs!! About 25 frogs suddenly showed up in our pond 2 days before the event. According to Whendi Cook and Dan Broderick:
“In shamanic traditions, Frog is a reminder of common bonds with all life…
A singer of songs that celebrate the most ancient watery beginnings…
They embody transformation, creativity, cleansing, healing, fertility, rebirth, metamorphosis…”
Until we see you again, we share with you this lovely gift that Dan and Whendi made when visiting our Frog Pond – link it, watch it, like it!
